Last week was your very first Fourth of July.
I am loving all these firsts.
GiGi came to stay the week with us, and you had big fun together.
On Tuesday the 3rd, we all went to Wald Park in Vestavia to listen to our church orchestra play a patriotic concert in the park.
It was gorgeous weather, and you really enjoyed playing on the blanket...
...playing with mommy...
...and listening to the music.
You heard your very first National Anthem.
You and GiGi played the trombone, the cymbals, the big drum, and the piccolo during John Philip Sousa's march.
After the concert, we went to Dairy Queen for a treat. Daddy entertained you and made you giggle.
On Independence Day, we went over to Dollie's for a pool party!
Nanny, Daddy John, and Aunt Deb were all there, and we had a yummy barbecue lunch.
You sat poolside with GiGi...
...and she even dipped your legs in the pool.
Then you took a nice long nap in the porch swing.
We went home to take baths, change, and get ready for the fireworks show!
We drove up to Vestavia Baptist Church to sit on the hill to see the fireworks over Vulcan.
Dollie met us there, and we relaxed in the cool air until it was time for the show to begin.
You made it to 8:59pm. The fireworks started at 9.
Look what you missed.
This was the first time I've ever been up there without your daddy - he had to work. Luckily, he was able to watch the fireworks from the hospital window where he was that night!
You were exhausted after such a big day and slept a looooooong time that night.
I am so looking forward to next year, when you might actually pay attention to the fireworks!
Such a fun week with my little BooBoo and her family :)
